Louisiana State Lottery Company Records, . 1878-1883

Chartered in 1868 by the Louisiana General Assembly, the Louisiana State Lottery Company operated in the United States until 1893. After transferring its headquarters to Honduras, the company continued to sell lottery tickets illegally stateside until the United States Department of Justice closed the business down in 1907. The collection contains broadsides, tickets, and an order form from the Louisiana State Lottery Company. Records date from 1878 to 1883.
